23-29 April

The festival brings together people from all over Mexico, celebrating the beauty, nature, culture and modernity shown clearly in its movies. The festival celebrates not only Mexican films but also films from all over the world.

Life and Death Festival

30 October – 2 November

Better known as Day of the Dead, this is a festival that attracts not only locals but also numerous foreign visitors. If you have decided to stay in one of the vacation rentals in Cancun or Playa del Carmen, make sure to visit Xcaret Park where the fest is organized.

During this festival dedicated to the memory of our deceased you will be able to experience traditional food, crafts, altars, theater, dance and gala concerts.  It is an amazing event and if you have kids they will also have tons of fun.

Sacred Mayan Journey

21-23 May

The Sacred Mayan Journey is an ancient ceremony in which women and men cross from Pole (Xcaret) to Kuzamil island (Cozumel), for the sacred message of the goddess Ixchel. The rowers take their canoes across 50 kilometers and bring them back in around 6-7 hours.

The canoes here are structured and decorated in the traditional manner, dating back to the Mayan culture. Twenty-five beautifully decorated canoes, 300 muscular rowers, what a sight!

Xplor Bravest Race

13 September

The Xplor Bravest Race is adventure at its peak! Participants can be from anywhere in the world. Run, face your fears, face obstacles. This race is a challenge of endurance, power and physical skill, as well as mental and spiritual will.

It takes place in a natural setting including cenotes and underground rivers. For those not participating, the environment is enthused with energy with music, live bands, DJs, best of Mexican food. In short, unforgettable!

Marine Turtle Festival


This festival celebrates and preaches conservation of marine turtles. It was initiated with an idea to protect turtles in Tulum. The festival gives many reasons for children and families to join here and learn about conservation as well as appreciate a spectacle of nature (releasing baby turtles). During this festival there are talks about turtles, contests among kids, beach cleanings and event to create awareness among the population.

PGA Mayakoba Golf Classic

9-15 November

This was the first OHL Mayakoba tour to reach out of the US and Canada. Reaching Mexico in 2007, OHL Classic at Mayakoba is one of the finest and best PGA (Professional Golfers’ Association) tour, where professional players and viewers visit together. This year, there are 132 golfers participating in the event held in Riviera Maya.

Triathlon Xel-Ha

13 November onwards

This year, the National Championship is being held in Xel-Ha. Since participation in this even needs a lot of stamina and physical fitness, training is also provided in advance. The competition includes swimming, cycling and running long distances, differentiating as per gender and age.

The Triathlon Xel-Há 2015 will be held on Saturday, November 14th (Olympic Triathlon) and Sunday, November 15th (Sprint Triathlon, Children and Women Beginners).

Winter beach 2015


This is Riviera Maya’s way of welcoming the new year. Winter beach is a festival that gathers the best of entertainment, fashion and music all together. Participants from all over the world meet at Mamita’s Beach Club, where catwalks, musical concerts, DJ-specialized dance parties, etc., are organized to bid old year adieu and welcome the new one!
